Bootlegger Candle Co. is built on two foundations: science & atmosphere.

Bootlegger Candle Co. is a husband and wife duo at its core. Each candle is developed in-house through hands-on testing and a deep understanding of wax, fragrance, and burn performance. He leads production—pouring and refining every batch—while she drives the creative vision, branding, and storytelling behind the brand. It’s a balance of precision and creativity. Function and feeling.

With a background in environmental science, our approach to candle-making is rooted in understanding what actually goes into the air we breathe. That knowledge shaped a clear standard from the start—create a product that is clean-burning, consciously formulated, and safe for the home. Rooted in the tradition of American-made goods, each piece reflects a commitment to quality, function, and detail—where utility meets artistry, and every element serves a purpose.

From our wax blend to our reusable vessels, all aspects are chosen with both performance and environmental impact in mind. Our signature rocks glass vessel sets us apart. Inspired by classic whiskey tumblers, it’s designed to be reused long after the final burn—bringing function, weight, and character to every candle. It’s not just packaging; it’s part of the experience, and a nod to the world that inspires us.

The concept itself was shaped behind the bar. Years of bartending revealed how deeply environment influences experience—lighting, scent, glassware, energy. That perspective, paired with a pull toward the Gatsby and Prohibition era, became the backbone of the brand: moody spaces, strong pours, and a quiet, effortless kind of luxury. Crafting a candle follows the same discipline as building a cocktail. As a mixologist, you learn balance—how something opens, develops, and lingers. The same applies to scent. Fragrance notes must be layered with precision; too much or too little of one element changes the entire experience. That understanding of composition, paired with a scientific foundation, allows each candle to feel structured, intentional, and refined.
