Built on three foundations: science, Mixology, and history.

At Bootlegger Candle Co., every candle is developed in-house through hands-on testing and a deep understanding of wax, fragrance, and burn performance. Our process is equal parts science and craft, with every detail intentionally considered.

With a background in environmental science, we began with a simple question: what are we putting into the air we breathe? That question became the foundation for how we formulate our candles—with a focus on clean-burning performance, thoughtful ingredients, and a product we feel good bringing into the home.

Our philosophy is rooted in the tradition of American craftsmanship: make it well, make it with purpose, and make it to last. From our plant-based wax blend and essential oil infused fragrance oils, to the vessels that hold each candle; every component is selected with both performance and environmental impact in mind.

At the center of the collection is our signature rocks glass vessel. Inspired by the classic whiskey tumbler, its substantial weight and timeless design bring character to every candle. Once the final burn is complete, the vessel lives on—ready for another pour, another purpose, or simply another chapter.

It was designed to be more than a candle. It was designed to be kept.

The spirit of Bootlegger was born behind the bar.

Years of bartending taught us that the best experiences are created through balance and atmosphere. The lighting, the glassware, the scent in the room, the energy of the space—every detail contributes to how a moment feels.

That same philosophy shapes every fragrance we create.

A great cocktail is layered. It has an opening, a progression, and a finish. Fragrance works much the same way. Each note has a role, and finding the right balance is what turns individual ingredients into a complete experience.

Our background in mixology gives us an instinct for composition, while our scientific foundation gives us the discipline to test, refine, and understand what works. Together, they shape candles that are intentional in both scent and performance.

The aesthetic of Bootlegger draws inspiration from the Gatsby and Prohibition eras—dark wood, classic spirits, polished glass, intimate rooms, and understated luxury. Not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, but an appreciation for a time when craftsmanship, ritual, and atmosphere mattered.

Bootlegger is our interpretation of that spirit: moody, refined, purposeful, and made to be experienced.
